Fafner of the Azure: Dead Agressor (Dead Agressor Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Agressor) is a 25-episode anime series about a world where much of the Japan had been destroyed by beings known as Festum. Fortunately, in a group of remote islands in the Pacific Ocean, people managed to hide themselves from Festum using the most extreme technologies. It was the last Paradise on Earth.

At last, the Festum discovered this hidden location and began to attack the islands. However, the adults were not unprepared. They activated shield walls and sent out a young pilot, Kazuki Makabe (), to fight the Festum using a giant robot called Fafner. This is how the story began.

Many of the terms appeared in the anime are borrowed from the Norse mythology and Germanic mythology. Also, apparently there are a lot of similarities with an anime/manga masterpiece Neon Genesis Evangelion.
